My visit to the hospital this week was a productive one. After waiting for about 30 minutes I was taken to see the doctor. He noticed as soon as I spoke that I was very nasal. He took a look up my left nostril which has been blocked for some time now and could definitely see a polyp. He then used an endoscope to take a look and allowed me to have a look too. And right enough, there was a polyp in the right nostril too, and I was able to see what had given me years of discomfort and embarrassment.
So they have indeed grown back and the polyps seem to be the sole cause of all my nasal troubles.
The upshot of this is that I now have to have a third operation, this time concentrating solely on the polyps. I expect that they will grow back, but having spoken to the doc, I believe that regularly rinsing my nose may help to prolong the period that I am polyp free.
Not sure when I am going in yet, but I will be amongst the first patients at the new building in Stobhill with all the latest technology.
Here is a video of what will happen during the op – don’t watch it if you are squeamish! I’ll be under general anaesthetic so won’t feel a thing.
